El Masnou, Barcelona 1990

Ricky Rubio

He spent his childhood linked to basketball courts and soccer camps, where from a young age he gave off competitiveness and effort. He stood out in lower categories with his local club, until he awoke the interest of the Joventut de Badalona. Shortly after he signed with the youth team, and at the age of 14 he was the youngest debutant in the ACB. He won everything with Joventut and FC Barcelona, including the Euroleague of 2010 in Paris.
Ricky Rubio’s incredible career had only just begun when the first Olympic (silver) medal was hung in the Beijing Olympics, aged 17, shortly before making the jump to the NBA. That’s where he learned everything, to adapt with the Minnesota Timberwolves (2011-17), to know how much it costs to win and, unfortunately, to overcome the very strong emotional blow when his mom died in 2016. Ricky held on to the basketball to overcome, to be better every day, to become world champion and, from that stardom, to honor his mother helping others from his most personal project, The Ricky Rubio Foundation. With his foundation he tries to transmit the values that have served him to be who he is today as a player, but above all, as a person.
After a stage of 2 seasons with the historic Utah Jazz (2017-19), where he could enjoy the experience of the playoffs, in summer 2019 he commits to the young and exciting project of the Phoenix Suns, where he continues to work again with the same illusion as that 14 year old boy who dreamed of playing in the best league in the world.

All to win. Always true to its motto: «Never too high, never too low.»
